Tuesday's Daily Brief: Become Part of HuffPost Live!

Tuesday, July 10, 2012
Arianna Huffington: HuffPost Live, our new live streaming network, is launching August 13. One of our goals is to create the most social video experience possible. That's why we're putting you, the HuffPost community, front and center in everything we do. And since we want you be real partners in what we are building, we've created "HuffPost Live 3, 2,1...," a section that will help us find out what kind of network you want to be a part of -- and which of our community members want to join us live on the air as regularly featured guests. The first step is going to "3, 2, 1..." and recording a video sounding off on what you are passionate about. HuffPost Live aims to be as disruptive in video as HuffPost has been in the way news is consumed and engaged with. But we can't do it without you. So check out "HuffPost Live 3, 2, 1..." and join the conversation.

When most people think of Alan Alda, a smile of recognition comes to their faces because they recall the hundreds of memorable roles that he's played. What people don't ordinarily associate Alan with, however, is science -- and yet, his interest in it has taken hold of his heart.
Howard Fineman: Will McAvoy's Rules -- And Ours
Yes, it is unrealistic and predictable. It is preachy and takes place in a galaxy long ago and far away. In other words, it is a fairy tale. Well, fairy tales are meant to inspire and instruct, and The Newsroom manages to do both in a mostly entertaining way.
