Paris, On Tuesday, something remarkable happened. Unnoticed by the media and the political class, DFPC won its first legislative battle of the year! Drug Law Would Have Removed Churches From Protected Status House Bill 19 was supposed to be a non-controversial bill to update Delaware's drug laws. However, when State Representative Lincoln Willis read the fine print, he discovered an important change for churches! Tucked away in the enormous bill was an attempt to remove churches and places of worship from the list of protected zones where children frequent. The protected zones were created to discourage illegal drug use near places where children would be put at risk. The list of places with protective zones had included parks, schools and churches. But Representative Willis wasn't about to let churches be removed from the list! Representative Willis put forward an amendment to preserve churches as protected zones, and DFPC supported his amendment. In a nail biting vote, the Willis amendment passed the House of Representatives with NO votes to spare! Do you know how your Representative voted? Click here to find out!
