Tomorrow is the showdown. We'll be on watch, June 30th, at Legislative Hall from 3pm until midnight. Come for an hour or the whole night. Enjoy the camaraderie, watch, learn & make a difference!

We need you to call tonight & tomorrow morning, then it's over. Please, stand with us and make one last call. It matters. Call and be heard. In addition to Planned Parenthood funding, there is a second issue to talk about when you call tonight. Earlier this week, DFPC uncovered a major parental rights violation. Listen up: your fundamental rights are at stake.

The Delaware Division of Public Health is making changes starting next week to the School Based Health Centers (Wellness Centers). Public Health has published new parental consent forms. We some serious concerns about these forms.

S.B. 135 is a bill that allows the Wellness Centers to bill your insurance for services. Not a problem. HOWEVER, included in the forms is a waver paragraph that claims you as a parent, do not have the right to know what services your children receive. That is not true! Then, what is worse: the paragraph asks you to sign away your rights (which, according to the form, you do not have)! By initialing this paragraph, parents are signing away their right to know what services their own child is receiving. NOT ACCEPTABLE! In addition, the form implies that parents MUST initial the entire form for their child to use the wellness center. This is also not true.

According to testimony in front of the state senate yesterday, parents do NOT need to initial the waver paragraph in order to access the health centers. Parents who do not catch the fine print are deceived into signing their rights away! The new forms are deceptive and unacceptable.

What to Say

1) Parental Consent - "Please amend S.B. 135, to protect parental rights! The bill does NOT reinforce any rights for parents, and we must amend it! If it cannot be amended to protect parents, please vote NO on S.B. 135!"

2) Planned Parenthood funding - "We are not happy that Planned Parenthood is getting ANY of our tax dollars in the grant-in-aid bill (H.B. 195); but, we are outraged that they are getting preferential treatment! NO Sweetheart deals giving Planned Parenthood a 25% increase while other worthy organizations get only 15%-20%! Vote no on the grant-in-aid bill until this gets fixed! Find a way!"
