Humans argue over politics. Meanwhile, the Axolotl are dying out.

Lake Xochimilco outside of Mexico City, Mexico --
The Axolotl is an aquatic salamander that never grows out of the tadpole state. It is native to Lake Xochimilco. This animal can not be found in the wild anyplace else on Earth. According to scientists, there are only about 1200 left. They are becoming extinced in the wild because of foreign fish that were introduced to the lake, back in the 1970's. Now the local human population is dependent on the fishing industry surrounding the lake.
These critters need to be preserved and transplanted to another lake similar to their natural habitat. Meanwhile, we need to figure out how they reproduce cut off limbs.
It has been suggested that while humans argue politics, creatures like the Axolotl suffer.
While I feel for the plight of these poor creatures, human politics in general are not necessarily related to the plight of the Axolotl and its variations. I don't think axolotl care what lake they are in as long as they survive as a species.
U.S. politics have come down to the survival of our culture and the prevention of the Federal government from diminishing individual rights to lip service alone. Rights are being redefined as privileges that can be obviated by the pen on a president.
With these high stakes, it is difficult to consider the impasse, natural or unnatural, conditions of this poor creature.

I was talking with a friend named Kevin on Facebook. He states, "As interwoven as human well-being is with the well-being of the rest of the planet, I don't think we can afford for very much longer to have anything but environmental issues as our first priority... I can't find anyone who has a sustained campaign to help the axolotl, not even the wildlife and conservation organizations I support."

I responded, "I get where you are coming from. I do not disagree with your concern for every living creature and your active propensity to consider the Adamic mandate for man to be the caretaker of the Earth as sacrosanct. However: when one looks at what is going on in Global Politics, it is like a man falling from a cliff that notices a wilting leaf on some flora sticking out of the rock and is concerned about the quality of the soil in which it is planted. That is not going to happen.
The best we can due right now for any splinters in the environment is the Band-aid approach. People, at large, are too busy focusing on getting their [fill in blank]. Even, so called, Christians are off in left field doing rapture practice or some other self-worship to care about the future of their own off spring, let alone the fate of the little known Axolotl. The index finger of every politician, from the full spectrum of political ideology, is wet with spit as it is licked constantly to check for the direction of the wind.
We may not always agree on approach or solutions to issues facing us in national and global politics, but I am pretty sure we agree on this... The human condition is in the toilet.
I believe the Axolotl and every other creature, endangered or not, will receive little more than lip service until such time that we as a society turn to Christ in the way in which Daniel described to King Neberkenezer in Chapter two.
Once this has happened the Garden of Eden will be restored and the Axolotl and every other critter will be saved.
What do you think?
