Friday's Daily Brief

Friday, February 11, 2011
A local government official says President Hosni Mubarak is in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, 250 miles from the capital Cairo, where protesters are deluging squares and marching on presidential palaces and the State TV building. The official, who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue, said Friday that Mubarak arrived at the airport in Sharm and was greeted by the local governor. Mubarak passed most of his powers to Vice President Omar Suleiman Thursday night, rebuffing the demands of hundreds of thousands of demonstrators that he step down immediately.

We do not need to "wait for Superman" to turn American education around and provide all America's children a high quality education. The 112th Congress can and must save the day by reauthorizing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

As we in the business community come to a crossroads here in the 21st Century, we have to ask ourselves, do we want to choose the path of self-interest or do we want to choose the path of greater good?
Gazelle Emami:Christian Siriano Fall 2011 (PHOTOS): Some Like It Dark
I'm no stranger to black, but Siriano's collection proved he clearly understands it way better than I, or most, could ever hope to. For a collection starved of color, his looks didn't suffer for it -- they gained strength from the dark.
